The 20 year old forward was signed by Gordon Dalziel in December 2007 He was on Clyde’s books before joining Hamilton Accies in August 2003. The following season he was in the Accies U17 team which won the SFL Youth Cup, beating his old side Clyde in a penalty shoot-out in the final. In Season 2005/06, Derek stepped up to the 1st team squad and made 3 appearances for the club. At the start of season 2006/07 he appeared for Cambuslang Rangers as a trialist. Derek has been unfortunate with injuries since joining the Glens.
