Gary was on Killie’s books under Tommy Burns and was farmed out to Saltcoats Victoria before stepping up to Clydebank and Stranraer and then to the Glens in 2000/01. Now, along with Stevie Agnew, he is the last of the 'Last Champions of Ayrshire' squad of 2001/02. One of the best liked characters in the Junior game the big goalie has endeared himself to the Glenafton faithful over the years. Gary played in every Glens game Ayrshire League and West of Scotland Cup winning Season 2004/05. His penalty saves in the West of Scotland Cup Final victory at Newlandsfield that season were made wearing a Pollok jersey! Thereafter known as "Golden Gloves", Gary decided to hang is gloves up at the end of Season 2007/08, join the coaching staff and provide back-up cover for new goalkeeper Chris Fahey, which he did in three of the Ayrshire Sectional LeagueCup matches at the start of Season 2008/09.
